The 10 mm steel wire cable used in all our Zip wires and is especially made and cut for us by a specialist manufacturer here in the UK.

The steel wire cable is made from Galvanised steel and is spun to a 7x19 format (see picture on left). Each length of wire we supply comes delivered on a small drum with a hardened Thimble eye at one end and a plain end at the other. This is so that the end with the thimble eye can be either attached to the bracket (if used) or so that you can thread the wire through the thimble eye after going around the tree at the receiving end of the Zip wire run. The plain end then goes to the starting end of the Zip wire run and is secured to the Cable Tensioner.

Zip wire cable specifications:
* Material: Galvanised steel wire
* Cable 10 mm (7x19) with Thimble eye on one end
* Minimum load breaking: 6420 kgs
* Approx weight of 100 kgs: 39.8 kgs

Zip wire Cable construction:
As you can see from the picture on the left, each length of wire that is used in our Zip wire runs is spun using Galvanised steel to a construction of 10 x 7x19. This means that the wire has a diameter of 10mm and is constructed by spinning 7 strands of wire - each strand itself being made from 19 strands - together to form the actual cable.

This is what gives the Zip wire cable its flexibility, durability and great strength.

When unwinding this wire of the drum please make sure that you DO NOT kink the wire at all. This wire is very heavy and will require two people to assemble in place.

Please note that we recommend that you order at least 3 m more than you have measured for.

Zip wire Cable measuring:

When measuring the length of wire that you require for your Zip wire run, please use the following instructions to help you:

If measuring for use between Tree to Tree (or support):
Please measure the circumference of the tree to be used as the receiving end.
Then measure from the centre of the receiving end tree to the centre of the tree to be used as the starting tree.
Add together both measurements and then add on 3 metres to find the amount you need to order.

If measuring for use between Support to Support:
Please measure from the centre of the receiving end crossbar to the centre of the crossbar to be used as the starting end.
Then add on 3 metres to find the amount you need to order.
